Our wedding day was just short of 2 years in the making. All the planning, all the stress was finally coming into play. Steven had gotten down on one knee at the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens at their Lotus Pond in December of 2020 during the chaos of Covid. Now we were here September 30th, 2022, finally getting to show off our love with all of our family and friends at the very same place. It was a gorgeous fall day for Pittsburgh; 65 with the best cloud coverage for photos.
Our ceremony was held outside and it was everything I had wished for. We had decided to write our own vows and when it finally came time to exchanging them it was hard not to get choked up, but luckily we were able to hold it all together.
We wanted the wedding to be simple chic with a rustic touch. I have my degree in Art and I really wanted to make sure I made most of our decorations. This included all of our signs and even handwritten name cards for our guests. When I also explained to everyone that I had made them into magnets, everyone was so excited to be able to take home such a unique memory from the day.
One thing that surprised everyone though, was our first dance. We had a hard time choosing what song we wanted to play for our first dance but I decided I could use this to my advantage. I had decided to choose ‘Thirty-Three’ by The Smashing Pumpkins without my husband knowing. You see, The Smashing Pumpkins are and have always been Steven’s favorite band and I thought what better surprise than to make one of their songs “Our Song”. It brought such a smile to his face and I loved that it was something unique that I hadn’t seen done before.
The biggest highlight of our night, that our guests are still talking about, was our photo-booth. Our guests loved being able to take such fun and silly pictures all together. It was definitely the best wedding favors with all the take home photo prints.
Our vendors were everything a bride & groom could ask for. Everyone made sure the day ran smooth and to continuously ask if there was anything they could do to help. I truly feel as though they’ve made an impact on us for life and would pick them again for any other life event. We definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.
Our wedding day is still something we talk about daily and will be able to reminisce on for the rest of our lives. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was honestly such a special day and was truly a dream come true.
