Hanna & Alex

I was living in Parkersburg at the time we met, and he lived in Marietta but worked as a police officer in Parkersburg. We met at the Townhouse, a bar in Marietta. My friend asked me to go with her to meet up with her husband and his coworkers. We had a quick stop in, before I left Alex asked me for my number, and that was the start of our forever.
There were so many things we shared pulling us together. Family traditions being one of them. My family has Polish blood, and his Ukrainian. Our first Christmas together we found out that our traditions were very similar. We had never met another person who celebrates Christmas Eve with sauerkraut soup (Kapusta Soup), as silly as that sounds. Our traditions lining up gave us a sense of belonging. This we will continue for the rest of our lives.
Our love for animals was another thing we shared. We had gotten our dog Pierogi (golden retriever mixed with Great Pyrenees) together in 2019. Fast forward to April 2020, I was in the kitchen cooking and he was making us drinks. He slipped off to the living room with a plan I wasn’t aware of. When I went in the living room he mentioned Pierogi had a hold of something from under the couch. When I went to grab what was in her mouth I noticed a beautifully wrapped gift. The thought of it being an engagement ring didn’t hit me since the box was not small. So I opened it, and as I did Alex grabbed my hand and asked me if I’d marry him. Inside of the box was an emerald cut aquamarine gem. Just the gem. He had waited and waited for the setting, but due to Covid making the timeframe unknown, he decided to go ahead and propose. I wouldn’t have it any other way, this is our special story one that only we could cherish the perfect imperfections of.
His gentle, kind, and safe personality is what I fell in love with. Alex loved the way I put others first over myself, my sense of humor, my very particular ways, and the feeing that I was just for him. We are content with silence on a calm day, and are ecstatic with noise of a happy life. Together we are balanced.
