Absolutely in love with this couple and this beautiful wedding. Shot by my lead associate.
After 2 postponements and a 2.5 year engagement, our wedding day had a lot of build-up but was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined … a reminder that “Love is patient” and having each other forever was what mattered the most. The entire weekend went by so fast, but every detail and memory with our family and friends was perfect.
Our rehearsal on Friday evening was at St. Mary of the Mount, and the rehearsal dinner after was down the street at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto. It was an awesome way to kick off the weekend with our family and bridal party on Mt. Washington with a beautiful view of the city of Pittsburgh. The welcome party followed at Kingfly Spirits in the Strip District, and it was exciting to walk in and see so many of our guests in town for the wedding. While our wedding day will obviously be the best memory from the weekend, the rehearsal and welcome party on Friday were really fun and special.
Mike and I had a very large bridal party, with 12 bridesmaids, 11 groomsmen, and our flower girl and ring bearers, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are extremely grateful to have spent the entire day on Saturday getting ready with our closest friends and family at the Fairmont. My girls and I started early with hair and makeup, eating breakfast and drinking mimosas while listening to music in the suite which overlooked both St. Mary of the Mount (our ceremony location) and PPG Wintergarden (our reception location).
The bridesmaids and I took the trolley up to St. Mary’s singing “Going to the Chapel”, and it was one of the sweetest moments of the day. I will never forget getting out of the trolley and seeing my dad tear up at the door of the church. Mike and I both agreed not to do a first look, and I’m so glad we went the traditional route. I “ugly cried” the entire way down the aisle and will never forget that moment or Mike’s reaction when seeing each other for the first time that day. I didn’t have a Maid of Honor but instead had my two older brothers be my “Men of Honor,” and Mike’s brother was his Best Man. We loved having our brothers with us at the altar the entire time for the beautiful ceremony. Our guests enjoyed watching my brother attempt to fix my gown and veil throughout the ceremony.
After the ceremony, our bridal party all got back on the trolley to celebrate and take pictures. We had a blast and were excited to get to the reception. PPG was stunning, and it felt like a dream to see all of our family and friends in the same place and our vision for this day come to life.
Our first dance, “Tyler Childers – All Your’n,” was a special part of the evening. We had so much fun taking dance lessons in Chicago and were happy it went well! The rest of the night flew by, but every moment of the evening and detail were unforgettable and truly felt like “us.” Our band, Velveeta, performed at my brother’s wedding and often at Penn State (where we both went to college), and they were the first call we made when wedding planning. They were incredible and the dance floor was packed all night.
We couldn’t be happier that our wedding was the huge party and celebration that we always wanted where we could hug and dance with all of the people in our life who are so important to us. In retrospect, the challenges that led to this day were worthwhile and made us appreciate every minute and this incredible day to start the rest of our lives as husband and wife even more.
