How they met
I am born and raised here in Pittsburgh. Dan was born in Altoona and spent most of his life growing up in Minnesota. Dan moved to Pittsburgh in the summer of 2015 for a job on a 3 year contract. I went out to Shadyside 8/23/2015 with my girlfriends. It was Jam on Walnut in Shadyside, a benefit to raise money for cystic fibrosis. Walnut street becomes jam packed with people to drink on the street and listen to the band. The girls and I went inside William Penn Tavern to use the bathroom. As I walked to the bathroom, Dan made a cat call at me and I just kept walking. When I returned to my friends they were at the bar. Dan-even though we said we did not want a drink bought the girls and I a round of shots. He asked for my number and I did not give it to him before we left… the girls and I moved on to the next spot, but because it was so busy and there were so many of us we got split up and were at two separate bars. Dan recognized my friends and proceeded to buy them drinks and told them he was not leaving until I returned. When I returned we hung out all night and Dan even told me that night that we would be together and I have since been learning Dan is usually right. When the bar was about to close I gave dan my number and we even set our first date for the next day.
We have been inseparable ever since. Dan changed companies to stay here in Pittsburgh and in 2018 we adopted our French bulldog baby and named him after our meeting place- Penn.
The Big Day
Our wedding day was really magical for us. We got engaged February 2019 driving highway one we stopped on 1000 steps beach and Dan proposed. We began planning and when the pandemic hit we held off to try and ensure it would be safe for our guests, but we could not wait any longer and it turned out perfect for us!
We had so much fun and everything we planned was essentially executed perfectly. We were so glad we budgeted a lot of time for photos during the daylight hours, and we were not rushing prior to the
ceremony. I felt calm as soon as I saw dan for our first look- it was perfect!- If we had to pick our favorite moment from the day it would be the first look!
Dan and I also had a chance to walk around the venue to check everything out before we actually got married and we even had a glass of champ together and took some time to take it all in. Right after we got married we took a few mins together just the two of us- more champ of course!
Our pre reception sparkler send off was so fun and magical too – its too hard to just pick one moment that was our favorite- we loved the whole day!!
