Nik and I met at Shenandoah National Park because of our interest in photography. I’m more into wildlife while he likes landscape. We found we’re in the same program at Johns Hopkins; But since he was on the engineering track while I was on the public health track, we never met before. We found out that we have so many things in common and fall in love with each other right away. After we graduated from Hopkins, I decided to continue my research at Pitts and he got a research position at CMU. We moved to beautiful Pittsburgh together, and during the pandemic, we didn’t get tired of each other even spending 24/7 together…
Our wedding day we made it quite simple, only went to the court house and didn’t invite anyone. Afterwards we went to the National Aviary for the “owl encounter”. The day we met at Shenandoah, we saw a barred owl (which is not very common) and we thought that’s special, so we scheduled this encounter and asked “Ash the owl” to be our witness..
