How They Met
Finding love in your 30’s can sometimes be difficult. Trying to learn from past experiences to find your perfect person isn’t an exact science, no matter how hard you try. Sometimes you just have to let fate do it’s job…or your self-proclaimed matchmaker friends! Lee and Chelsey met four years ago with the help of mutual friends. Numbers were exchanged and countless nights were spent up until dawn texting. It took a while until their schedules matched up and Chelsey’s penchant for playing hard to get didn’t help, but neither one gave up the pursuit. The first time they met in a small Lawrenceville bar, to a Pirates game with friends, and their first “official date”, lead to moving in to Lee’s tiny apartment and getting a very big dog, then buying their first home and getting engaged!
The Engagement
Lee was born and raised in Illinois and his family still lives there, so when they decided to come for a visit he thought it would the perfect time for an engagement. The weekend before their visit, while Chelsey was away, Lee went to her dad and asked for his permission to marry his daughter. Her dad, of course, said yes and he asked Lee when he was planning to do it. Lee told him he wanted to do it in a week and he said ok, well do you have a ring? Lee didn’t. So, the two of them went together, on a Thursday, and chose a diamond and a band and on Saturday morning Lee picked the ring up. While he was gone, Chelsey and Lee’s family were at the house getting ready to spend the day at the Carnegie Science Center, all completely oblivious to Lee’s plan. Lee had the ring for about an hour before he threw his proposal plans out the window and asked Chelsey to marry him in their backyard while his family was waiting in the car. But, it couldn’t have worked out more perfectly. Everyone was surprised and so happy and we got to spend the rest of the weekend celebrating with some of the people we love the most!
The Wedding
Our wedding ceremony will be at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with a reception to follow at Kingfly Spirits. It has worked out so perfectly for us because the Strip District is where we went on our first date and is one of our favorite places in the city!
